Partnering with Towns and Municipalities
NYALT can help towns and counties manage their farmland protection efforts. Once NYALT hires its land protection staff person, we will be able to hold informational workshops for landowners on farmland protection tools and host kitchen table meetings with farmers interested in protecting their land. NYALT can also provide technical assistance to towns and counties in writing applications for the New York State Farmland Protection Program. We currently undertake all aspects of the farmland protection process for counties and municipalities, with the exception of the mapping (the municipal sponsor donates these services as part of the State’s Farmland Protection grant’s in-kind matching guidelines).
